about

About a year ago, I was invited to participate in a public art seminar organized by The Arts Promotion Centre Finland. The seminar took place at The Sibelius Museum in Turku, an impressive example of modernist architecture designed by architect Woldemar Baeckman.

For my contribution, I came up with a three-part suite titled "Raitti" (which translates to "a small village main street"), representing the rural scenery of 19th century Finland. During this period, architecture served primarily functional purposes, catering to the necessities of everyday life. Today, however, these historic buildings and courtyards are recognized as forms of public art in themselves, their significance having evolved over time.

Through my musical composition, I sought to reimagine three typical structures found in the courtyards of rural Finland during the 19th century. I recorded three run-throughs and the actual concert in May. I listened to these recordings repeatedly and ultimately concluded to edit each of the three parts from different versions. Each individual track includes a detailed description of what was going through my mind.

My music is minimalistic, organic and it focuses on textures and moods mixed with open impressionistic harmonies. ... more
